Coating Inspections

Inclusive Energy is proud to offer storage tank coating inspections. Crude oil tanks are generally made of steel. While steel offers the strength needed to hold and protect oil, it’s vulnerable to corrosion. During the manufacturing stage, modern steel tanks receive a protective surface coating to prevent corrosion. The coating, however, doesn’t last forever. It is necessary for the tanks to undergo maintenance every 5 to 10 years to reapply a surface coating to prevent corrosion, pitting and oil leaks.

Internal coatings function primarily to prevent corrosion from exposure to both fumes and condensation in the vapor space, immersion exposure to chemical or stored liquids, and usually an aqueous cuff layer at the bottom with sludge and deposits.

Without proper preventive maintenance, corroded areas may ultimately necessitate extensive steel renewals, which increase maintenance costs. By using temporary climate control solutions, you can create the ideal environment for a tank’s surface preparation to ensure that it remains free of debris, salts and humidity. Temperature and humidity controls also allow you ensure that the tank’s surface is at the ideal temperature and the interior has a low relative humidity level when you apply the protective coatings.

The division is responsible for inspections pertaining to the following:

  • Coating facility audits.
  • Inspection of premium threading connections.
  • Inspection of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG).
  • Loading inspection of coated material.
  • Casing, Wire Wrapped pipe & Slotted pipe inspection.
  • Material traceability and tracking including material test report review & double jointing tracking.
  • External coating and internal linings applied to tanks, vessels, valves, flanges & fittings, line pipe and bends.
  • Bare fitting, flange and stockpipe material verification inspections at various supply companies around Canada.
  • We inspect all coating types, including, Liquid Epoxies, Plant/shop applied Fusion Bonded Epoxies, Electroless Nickel Plating (ENC), Galvanizing, Flame Sprayed coatings (metalizing), Rubber Linings, Urethane, Polyurethane, Organic/Inorganic Zinc coatings, Flouropolymer coatings, Phenolic coatings, and more.
